Wild Margins

an exploration of memory, landscape, and the unique possibilities of monoprinting. Nyisztor Studio, Fremantle WA, 2025.

In our cities and suburbs nature is relegated to the margins of our lives as if it is unimportant, not really part of who we are. We bend and shape it to our notions of what constitutes beauty, pleasure and usefulness. Perth has lost almost 90% of its wetlands and lakes to urban and suburban development. The remnant wild nature is not only essential to our physical wellbeing but also to our inner lives. I seek to convey an intimate experience of the bush through layered monoprints that blend elements of painting, drawing, and printing, creating evocative pieces that exist in the liminal space between figuration and abstraction.

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land where I work and live, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation, and pay my respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. I celebrate the continuing culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of all communities who also work and live on this land.
